BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: DR. SURESH MOHLA
Dr. Mohla is Associate Director, and Chief of the Tumor Biology and Metastasis Branch, Division of Cancer Biology, at the National Cancer Institute. He supervises a grants program in the area of tumor biology and metastasis, encompassing studies in the areas of tumor microenvironment, inflammation, stem cells, angiogenesis, lymphangiogenesis, metastasis, tumor dormancy and mechanisms of hormone refractory cancers.

During the past 19 years, Dr. Mohla has actively promoted transdisciplinary research in emerging scientific areas such as tumor microenvironment, tumor metastasis to the bone, cell migration, inflammation and cancer, lymphangiogenesis and cancer, hormone refractory cancers and tumor dormancy. His efforts led to the successful creation of the new NCI Network on Tumor Microenvironment. Currently, Dr. Mohla serves as the Program Director for the Tumor Microenvironment Network (TMEN) Consortium.

Dr. Mohla is the associate editor of J Cellular Biochemistry and Cancer Microenvironment. He also is involved in scientific program committees of several national and international symposia including Skeletal Complications of Malignancy, and Chairs the International Symposium on Hormonal Oncogenesis. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the AACR Working Group on Tumor Microenvironment.

Dr. Mohla is actively involved in mentoring young investigators. He has organized the AACR NIH Grants Sessions since 1998 and serves as a mentor in the AACR Associates Grants Writing Workshops.
