Research Grants Program

Apply for a Grant

Applications for the 2011 Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Grants Program open September 8, 2010. Nearly $3 million in research funding will be awarded. This represents the largest annual dollar amount disbursed since the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network introduced the program in 2003, and reflects an almost 30% increase in funding since last year.

The grants program is designed to help incubate innovative research projects, grow the number of researchers directly working on pancreatic cancer, nurture collaborations across disciplines and institutions, and expedite scientific progress for patient benefit. In addition to receiving financial support for their research, grantees participate in a mentorship program that connects them with leading scientists in the field. Ongoing career support activities offer opportunities for education and professional development. As a result, our community of researchers stays committed and involved.

The grants program is administered in partnership with the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) to ensure a rigorous peer-review system. Applications are submitted online through proposalCentral and are reviewed by panels of top experts in the field of pancreatic cancer, using carefully defined evaluation criteria and a NIH-style scoring system. Funding decisions will be available March 2011. The grant term begins July 1, 2011.

Funding opportunities are available for postdoctoral and clinical research fellows, as well as for independent junior and senior investigators.
